LISTEN WHEN YOUR CHILDREN’S DESTINY IS SPEAKING

Last week I was driving my daughter to go stay with her dad. She started to share with me her favorite worship artists and what music was speaking to her at this time. She shared of an album by John Mark Pantana and how much his music speaks to her. I felt the Holy Spirit and my spiritual senses stirring.

The album was called “Love Secrets”.  She went on to tell me that there is a book that the artist wrote that accompanies the album, and that she really wanted it. This was the first I heard about this book, but at that moment, I knew this was an invitation to partner with God. I felt that the Lord wanted me to get it for her and surprise her when she got back home. Holy Spirit reminded me the following day. I did some research and found it, ordered it and it was waiting for her when she returned home.

She was so overjoyed when she came home and entered her room to see the package waiting for her. She shared with me multiple times after opening it of how touched she was that I really listened to her. She went on to say that it meant so much that I understood what it meant to her. I heard the Lord say, “we must LISTEN to our CHILDREN when their DESTINY SPEAKS”.

Listening to a teenager all the time is tough, as they can be all over the place and have a lot to say at this age. However, my response was lead by the Holy Spirit, which was, “I can tell the difference of when you are speaking from your heart and destiny, versus talking to talk. Plus, I have the Holy Spirit, who helps me.”

So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together for good,for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose. - Romans 8:28 TPT

I look back to when my daughter started showing her love for music at around 5 or 6. She was a huge fan of Taylor Swift. On 8/15/2013, Taylor was coming to our city for a concert, which was on my daughter’s 8th birthday. Of course, with Holy Spirit’s help, I made every sacrifice to get tickets and take her for her birthday. She had this red sequined dress that her cousin outgrew and passed down, but it was still big. A friend of ours, had his mom tailor it just for her. She was all dressed up in the full Taylor Swift gear. The light in her was beaming with excitement. This was another moment, when I heard my daughter’s destiny calling her and was obedient to listen.

There are so many stories that I can recall leading to where my daughter is today. Her heart is to worship our Lord all the days of her life. She is now almost 16 and has already been mantled for the call on her life. As we partner with Holy Spirit and truly listen, we will help them to step into their destiny and purpose with a confidence and boldness that they will need to move into it.

I pray this encourages parents, spiritual parents and leaders to truly listen to the children and those who God has entrusted them to lead. To partner with Holy Spirit, to help them pursue their dreams, their destiny and most of all their God given purpose.

Yahweh, you alone are my inheritance. You are my prize, my pleasure, and my portion. You hold my destiny and its timing in your hands. Your pleasant path leads me to pleasant places. I’m overwhelmed by the privileges that come with following you! - Psalm 16:5-6 TPT
